Fabrication: ODE ｜ Titanium-Coated Stainless Steel

A cage is meant to define boundaries — offering protection while simultaneously restricting freedom. Through the gesture of an opened cage, the artist challenges not only the “traditions confined within the cage,” but also the invisible isolation that exists between people. Like birds separated by bars, we may see one another, yet still remain emotionally distant.

The cage protects us, yet it can also become a limitation. As Liu Feng describes:

“When you open the cage that confines yourself, you enter into a larger world of connection…”

Beyond defining limits, the cage can also carry new possibilities.

Based on the designer’s creative concept, ODE completed the fabrication and final installation of Open Cage.
