Zhong Song graduated from the China Academy of Art and focused on contemporary sculpture and public art in his early career. His representative works include Oriental Light — Sundial in Pudong, Shanghai, and the landmark structure of the Wujiaochang Transportation Hub. In later years, his practice expanded into architectural space and furniture design, continuously exploring the contemporary expression of traditional Eastern aesthetics through a minimalist Chinese visual language.

Inspired by the traditional Eastern sundial, Oriental Sundial transforms an ancient timekeeping instrument into a contemporary geometric sculptural form. Blending sculpture with spatial installation, the work interacts continuously with natural light and the passage of time, becoming a representative work in the development of contemporary public art in China.
