Zhu Xi | Planning & Realization: ODE

Zhu Xi takes the renowned Neo-Confucian philosopher Zhu Xi as its subject, portraying a figure of enduring cultural and intellectual significance through a restrained and monumental sculptural language. Executed in white marble, the work brings together traditional figurative sculpture and contemporary public space, allowing a legacy of thought and scholarship to enter the urban environment through the language of public art.

As a large-scale landmark sculpture, the work reflects Zhu Xi’s lasting influence on Chinese philosophy and culture while responding to the site’s connection with history and local identity. The refined character of the marble complements the calm and dignified composition, creating a distinctive cultural presence within the surrounding landscape.

ODE was responsible for the planning, fabrication, and installation of the project. Drawing on extensive experience in large-scale stone sculpture realization, the team guided the work from development through final installation, helping transform the artist’s vision into a permanent public artwork.
