Treasure Basin | Chaobai River National Wetland Park, Tianjin | Planning, Design, Fabrication & Installation: ODE

Located within Chaobai River National Wetland Park in Tianjin, Treasure Basin was commissioned to ODE as a complete project encompassing planning, design, fabrication, and installation.

From the outset, the team sought to move beyond a literal interpretation of the traditional “Treasure Basin” symbol. Instead, the concept of gathering and convergence was translated into a spatial experience. Through organically rising structural forms and an embracing architectural language, the installation creates an open yet cohesive environment within the natural landscape, inviting visitors to enter, pause, and engage with the space.

Throughout the development and implementation process, a stainless steel structure combined with fluorocarbon coating was employed to ensure both durability and visual refinement in an outdoor setting. Water features and lighting systems were seamlessly integrated into the overall composition, allowing light, water, and space to interact as a unified artistic expression.

As night falls, illuminated mist and flowing water continually transform the visual character of the work. Visitors moving through and beneath the installation become part of the experience, allowing the sculpture to evolve from a static object into an interactive public space.

For ODE, the significance of the project lies not only in its form, but in the relationships established between structure, material, site, and people. Through thoughtful design and craftsmanship, the work seeks to create a contemporary artistic presence that fosters connection between the public and the environment.
