Symphony in Motion

Symphony in Motion

Public Interactive Art | Sound Transmission Installation | Urban Metro Art

Symphony in Motion | Design: CAPA | Fabrication & Realization: ODE

Located in Chaoyang Park Station on Beijing Metro Line 14, Symphony in Motion draws inspiration from wind and string instruments. Flowing tubular metal forms extend through the space like a frozen melody, transforming musical rhythm into a visual presence within the urban environment.

Unlike conventional public artworks designed solely for viewing, the installation incorporates an internal sound-transmission system that allows visitors to communicate from opposite ends. Voices travel through the structure and emerge elsewhere, much like music moving through space, creating unexpected moments of connection between strangers.

To realize the intended interactive experience and spatial expression, ODE participated in structural development, prototype testing, and on-site installation. Through continuous refinement and coordination, the project was successfully brought from concept to reality.

By bringing sound, communication, and everyday urban life into a shared spatial narrative, the work transforms art from an object of observation into a medium for human connection.
