Great Sound Is Seldom Heard | Metro Public Art Mural

Design: CAFA Fabrication & Installation: ODE

Rooted in Laozi’s philosophical notion that “Great sound is seldom heard”, the artwork takes abstractdeconstructed Chinese and Western musical instruments as visual motifs. Traditional and western orchestral instruments are reduced into geometric forms unfolding across a continuous mural. Crafted with metal filigree and colouredglass inlay techniques, this silent art wall within the metro public space evokes the resonance of all sounds. It symbolises the integration and coexistence of diverse cultures, allowing passing commuters to experience the inclusive cultural heritage of the city amid daily transit.
