Bloom | Curated by Wu Zheng, Lead Design by Zhang Zhaohong, Developed & Realized by ODE
Located at Yinfeng Lake Park, Bloom is a 26-meter landmark installation centered on industrial heritage art, light-based public art, and parametric metal sculpture. Inspired by the Yizhou crabapple flower and the cultural symbolism of prehistoric black pottery goblets, the work reinterprets regional history through a contemporary metal language.
The project utilized Rhino parametric modeling to achieve its complex curved geometry, combined with advanced fabrication techniques including sandblasted aluminum panels, colored stainless steel, laser cutting, and vacuum ion plating. These layered processes create a flowing gradient from violet to deep blue across the sculpture surface.
Integrated LED matrix lighting and perforated metal structures allow the installation to transform between day and night. By day, it reveals a fusion of industrial metal texture and ceramic aesthetics; by night, light and shadow animate the sculpture into a blooming visual experienc
