Virtue Implied, Pure Breeze

Virtue Implied, Pure Breeze

This artistic wall installation, titled Integration of Forms and Scenery, is located at Heizhuanghu Station of Beijing Subway Line 7. Centered on the “charm of the ancient capital of old Beijing”, its design extracts traditional Chinese architectural imagery such as courtyard houses, city towers, the Temple of Heaven and the Drum Tower, constructing the historical texture of old Beijing with layered “tile” elements, while the flying doves symbolize the peaceful and harmonious atmosphere of the city, integrating traditional architectural symbols into the modern subway space to let passengers feel Beijing’s cultural heritage during their journey. The background texture is made of tile-patterned stone or ceramic panels to simulate the texture of traditional blue tiles, the architectural shapes are crafted with hollowed-out metal carvings, and the white doves are made of metal or acrylic, all materials meeting the fireproof, durable and easy-to-maintain requirements of public subway spaces. Created in 2019 as part of the public art project for the east extension of Beijing Subway Line 7, it was designed by Guo Liming and Jiang Ze, and executed by Beijing Yangchuang Space Art Design Co., Ltd.
