Light Sculpture|Metal Installation Art|Parametric Construction|Public Art Landmark
Flowers Blooming Gate |Planning: Wu Zheng (Beijing Huigu Guangyang) |Design: Xiong Shitao |Detailed Design & Fabrication: ODE
Flowers Blooming Gate is a key public art landmark within a theme park, combining light sculpture, metal installation art, and parametric construction to create a futuristic spatial structure. Inspired by the concept of “blooming,” the work transforms a natural motif into an abstract spatial language, forming a recognizable urban art interface that reveals different visual experiences between day and night through shifting light and shadow.
Throughout the project, ODE was deeply involved from the conceptual development stage, responsible for detailed design and full implementation. The team conducted systematic studies on material color expression and surface reflective behavior, carefully calibrating the visual interaction between LED lighting effects and the multicolored titanium-coated metal surfaces. Through continuous prototyping and parametric refinement, the overall visual performance was progressively optimized. In addition, for the large-span structure and complex on-site installation conditions, a customized mobile gantry lifting system was developed, enabling an integrated workflow from design development to on-site execution.
The artwork is composed of over 100,000 precision-assembled stainless steel panels and integrates an internal lighting system. It presents a flowing metallic texture in daylight and transforms into a transparent, layered light structure at night, ultimately standing as a public art landmark that merges technological innovation with artistic expression.
