For the 2023 integrated renovation project of Shanghai Hengshan Garden Hotel (formerly Hengshan Guest Hotel), the design was undertaken by Tongji Architectural Design (Group) Co., Ltd., with the core objective of restoring the Art Deco style of the original “Picardy Apartments” constructed in 1934. As the exclusive contractor for all metal decoration works of the hotel, we were responsible for translating the design concept into physical form. By employing craftsmanship such as patinated bronze finishes, embossed signage and retro-styled metal components, we delivered the fabrication and installation of key elements including the main entrance revolving door and lintel, decorative metal moldings in public areas, and embossed copper feature walls in functional zones. Our execution precisely reproduced the sophisticated details of the Art Deco aesthetic, acting as a crucial bridge between the building’s historical heritage and the functional requirements of a contemporary hotel.
