An installation artist who combines experimental innovation with practical implementability, Liu Feng takes “grand design” as his core philosophy. He breaks the boundaries between sculpture and installation art, creating works that integrate intangible cultural heritage craftsmanship, industrial materials, and multimedia technologies. From the metal birdcage array Open Cage, to the bamboo weaving installation Yinyun co-created with intangible cultural heritage inheritors, and the satirical Heyhei Lab series that critiques consumerism, his works deliver humorous and thought-provoking expressions. These installations serve as “emotional containers” connecting spaces, audiences, and social issues, while also promoting the integration of art into commercial and cultural tourism scenarios.
